What Happens After You Call

A loss is stressful. Here is what usually happens from your first call to the final walkthrough, so you know what to expect at every step.

Get Help Now

Call our local line for your area:

We will be in contact within 60 minutes.

Seven steps, start to finish

  1. You call, 24/7

Call the line for your state any time. We will be in contact within 60 minutes.

  2. Free estimate and inspection

We look at the damage, check for hidden moisture or smoke, and explain what we found and what we recommend.

  3. Stop the damage

Mitigation comes first. Depending on the loss this can mean water extraction and drying, board-up and securing the structure, or mold containment.

  4. Insurance documentation

We document the loss with photos, moisture readings and a written scope, and tell you which records to keep for your claim.

  5. Adjuster step

We can meet or work with your insurance adjuster. Licensed adjusters on staff help with documentation. We do not negotiate coverage, and coverage decisions belong to your policy and your carrier.

  6. Repairs and rebuild

Our team can handle repairs and reconstruction for what cannot reasonably be restored.

  7. Final walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and answer any questions before we close out the job.

What you can do right now

  • If it is safe, shut off the water at the main valve
  • Stay out of rooms with sagging ceilings or standing water near outlets
  • Turn off power to wet areas only if you can do it safely
  • Do not enter a fire damaged structure until it is cleared as safe
  • Move valuables and photos out of wet areas if it is safe to do so

What to have ready for your claim

  • Your insurance company name and policy number
  • Your claim number, if you already filed
  • Photos or video of the damage before cleanup
  • Receipts for anything you bought or paid for after the loss
  • A list of damaged items you can remember
